An Ode To Asthma

Carpet fibers are digging into my skin
Inhaling dust mites to cure clean lungs
Binds constrict throat with an advancing crawl
Scraping until redness is brought forth

Water soaked eyes are spluttering downwards
Fingers rubbing out the burrowing spikes
Now, time to wheeze as loud as you can boy
Cry for miracle water to melt the itch

But spots in vision jump like the dog
While cough keeps the beat: steady song
System ramped for overdrive - nth gear
Who needs sit-ups with abs like this?

You see,
The trick to tracheotomy is to release
Hidden demons clutching inside - burning
To pluck each one out by the tail
And tell it plainly that it isn't welcome

At least that's what I was told
